Te-Reo Maori

Room 21 has been very lucky to have had Te Reo lessons with Mrs Harding. We have been practising our Maori greetings, days of the week and different body parts.

Here are some photos of us playing a matching game today.

FAB FRIDAY

Today we had a range of activities to complete for Fab Friday.

One of the challenges for Tinker Time was using 'Cubetto'. Cubetto is a robot that needs to be programmed to move in the right direction.

Here is a video of Michelle, Aaminah, Andrea and Arya coding the Cubetto.

Today we had a STEM challenge to complete. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. We needed to create an umbrella using only certain materials. We used our problem solving and collaborative skills to work together.

Welcome Charlee

Today we welcomed Sam's dog Charlee in for our first Pet Day. It was lovely to meet Charlee and get to know her.
We learnt that she is 10 years old and loves to play.
Charlee was very well behaved!

Cup Challenge

This morning for Fab Friday we had a team challenge. We had to use our problem solving and communication skills to stack the 6 cups into a tower. Here is Mason, Cameron, Arya and Cooper giving it a go.

This was the final result! Maybe you could try it at home with your family.

Andrea

Look how gorgeous Andrea looks in her traditional Chinese outfit.
Thank you Andrea for helping us to celebrate Chinese New Year.

Fab Friday

Today we had our first 'Fab Friday' session. We were asked to work in teams to get a key out of a frozen cup of ice. We sure did have lots of interesting and creative ways. Gyana and Arya managed to get their key out first. Well done girls!

After we had got our key out we had to use our imaginations to finish this sentence,

This is the key to...

A Terrific First Day

Wow, what an amazing first day Room 21 has had.

We have been very busy getting to know our new teacher, new friends, new routines and expectations.

We welcome two new families to Sunnyhills. Ivanka Phan and Mason Khong. The children have been very good at showing Ivanka and Mason the ‘Sunnyhills Way’.

It has been wonderful that so many children have come to school today organized and ready with stationery. Thank you to all those that have named their child’s books.

There is no formal homework or reminders for this week. Our goal is to remember our book bag, drink bottle and hat/sunscreen every day.  I allow students time, during these sunny days, to put an additional layer of sunscreen on before they go out to lunch, but please ensure this is done at home before school too.

Look at these great photos taken today.
